I (big pink puffy heart) love skirts.
About 2 1/2 months ago, I was scrolling through Pinterest when I saw this skirt. And fell in LOVE.
Then, a few weeks ago, Matt cleaned out his closet and was getting rid of three pairs of khaki pants. Instead of trashing them, I put them in a pile, and did nothing. (Do you see a common theme here??)
So today, my kids were "resting" and my house was pretty clean...so I pulled out the khaki pants and started cutting. I really didn't need to bleach these (plus they were OLD and I was afraid they would fall apart). I forgot to take any pictures of the process, but I here is the step by step of how I did mine:
*I used 2 pairs of mens jeans.
*Cut the legs off
*Cut them into panels
*Got onto Nicole (4yo) for not laying down
*Sewed panels together vertically
*Broke my machine needle
*Cleaned out my sewing basket looking for a new needle
*Put on a new needle
*Rethreaded machine
*Finished sewing the sides
*Made a casing for the elastic
*Asked Nicole (4yo) why she was up again
*Threaded the elastic
*Ella (20 month old) woke up & I gave up on Nicole (4yo) sleeping
*Let both girls get up
*Ironed skirt
All in all, it took me less than an hour and I'm NEW at sewing.
Here's how it turned out:
Um. Not sure why that is showing up sideways. Or what my hands were doing...Nicole (4yo) took the picture. :)
